Chiropractors are not symptom doctors. Instead of taking the traditional medical approach and treating symptoms with drugs or surgeries, doctors of chiropractic find the underlying causes of the symptom and work to correct it through spinal adjustments. By addressing the underlying causes, the symptoms naturally improve over time. Medications cover the symptoms and ignore the underlying cause which can delay the healing process.
A subluxation describes what happens when the bones in the spine lose their normal range of motion or position. This loss of motion or position can be caused by auto accidents, improper lifting techniques, emotional stresses, long periods of sitting or repetitive motions. Chiropractors find those subluxations, and work to correct them through spinal adjustments.
